Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Training
The Indiana Institute for Behavior Analysis (TIIBA) is proud to provide training for those interested in a career as a Registered Behavior Technician free of charge.
Each student is required to complete 40 hours of Classroom Training. All students are required to attend each day of training and to pass all tests within the Classroom Training portion. If a student does not pass the Classroom Phase of the course they will not be placed in Clinical Treatment Phase.
Clinical Treatment & Competency Assessment
Each student is required to complete Clinical Treatment and to work 1-on-1 with clients in our treatment facility. During the Clinical Treatment Phase , the student must perform all required skills successfully. Absence during this time will result in being excused from the program. During the practicum, the student will be assigned to work with a clinician who will assist the student in applying clinical policies, procedures and protocols while working with a client.
The Competency Assessment must be demonstrated and signed off by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). Completed Competency Assessments must be submitted with all required skills completed or will not be eligible for the required certification exam.
The Registered Behavior Technician Exam is administered by the Board Analyst Certification Board. The student is responsible for submitting Classroom Training certificate, completed Competency Assessment form and other required documentation to the BACB in order to sit for the exam.
Students must be age 18 and older and are required to pass a criminal background check along with submitting a copy of their transcript or diploma verifying at least completion of a high school diploma prior to starting the course. Attendance to all classroom sessions is mandatory in order to meet the program requirements as set by the BACB. Unsatisfactory performance or attendance issues may result in dismissal from the course/program. Student dress code is nursing scrubs, nursing jacket (if needed), and non-slip shoes.
When a student successfully completes the course he/she will be awarded a certificate of completion. A scheduled test date will be made by the student via the BACB website and the student will have the scheduled test paid for by TIIBA if hired and in good standing as an employee. If the student does not pass the 1st test it may be retaken and paid for by TIIBA a second time.
If not an employee, your certificate of completion for the Classroom Training will be given to you to schedule your own test at your own expense.
All training materials are the property of TIIBA.
Course schedules are tentative. Please contact us to verify course start dates and enroll.
The Registered Behavior Technician Training will also include training in crisis management prevention and intervention, first aid and CPR.
